Background
Surf Life Saving New Zealand protects and saves lives across New Zealand's beaches through a national network of clubs, members, volunteers, lifeguards, administrators, and supporters.
With 17,000 members, 74 clubs, patrols across more than 80 beaches, school education programmes, and more than 1,000 rescues each year, SLSNZ depends on accurate information and consistent processes across a large volunteer organisation.
Business need
SLSNZ had been using a custom-built legacy membership management system to record club details, membership information, and activities. It had served the organisation well but became difficult to maintain and extend, as changes were hard-coded and around 100 reports had been built over time.
They needed a modern platform to support online administration for clubs, self-service for members, flexible reporting, future mobile capability, integration with EnterNow, and appropriate security for personal identity information.
As a non-governmental organisation largely reliant on sponsors and charitable grants, SLSNZ had a tight budget for both the project and ongoing licensing.
The solution
Microsoft Dynamics CRM was selected as a powerful and flexible platform, with not-for-profit licensing helping address budget constraints.
OA Systems delivered Dynamics CRM as the core information repository and an ADX Studio portal integrated directly with CRM. These two components gave staff, club administrators, and members access to up-to-date information and tools and made administration tasks less complex and faster to complete.
Patrol captains can now prepare complex rosters, while members can update personal details, manage family information, check qualifications and awards, and confirm participation in club activities.
